Another Firm Chooses Recommind
Brenton B. Miller, director of knowledge management at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, talks about their choice of the Recommind in response to lawyer's pleas to give them their "own Google." ("The Search Engine that Could", California LegalPro, Summer 2004.)
Brenton echoes the frustrations of many when he describes "the almost perverse challenge of performing full-text searches through our document management system, iManage, which because of configuration limitations, requires separate log-ins to each office repository, along with the patience of Job to obtain and view the results from distant offices."
The criteria for their decision included:
Integration with iManage
Effectivesness of the search algorithms
Look and feel
Administrative functionality and ease of use
Search and indexing speed
Vendor intangibles
Brenton says that Recommind will provide a universal search system including all iMange libraries, Notes databases, intranet pages, etc. That's something we could all wish for!
